Seems the right to work law in Kansas is really bringing Kansas into the main stream.  Modine Co in Emporia is moving to Mexico and Rubbermaid plant in Winfield seems likely to close.  What new businesses have moved here because of the right to work law, none that I know of?  Thank you Republicans.   LANNY

Commentary:

Our local “Labor Beacon” had an article about some Union electricians, down in Louisiana, Arkansas, & Alabama that lost their jobs when Halliburton brought in non-union & out of state workers to do their jobs at below Davis-Beacon wages. Now it seems that a lot of folks that lived in these areas thought they were quite capable filling those jobs and that they should be paid a fair wage for doing so. It made several, downright mad that the US Government would hire foreigners from outside Louisiana, Arkansas, & Alabama to come into their homeland and take their jobs away, at a time they really needed a job, and give it to these foreigners, just so Halliburton could make more profits. Davis-Beacon was reinstated November 8th but it wasn’t retroactive and the politically favored contractors remain, so these Union jobs are probably still lost.

This right-hand of God government we now have seems never to learn their lessons. This is the primary reason the Iraq war has failed. We brought in US Government no-bid contractors. Now it seems that a lot of folks that lived in these areas of Iraq thought they were quite capable filling those jobs and that they should be paid a fair wage for doing so. It made several downright mad, that the US Government would hire foreigners from outside. The only jobs left available to them are to become Iraqi patriots, “BOOM”, or becoming policemen.

Hey, I hear they’re looking for policemen in New Orleans too…

George Bush did not act alone to change this country for the worst. The only way to help Labor is to make the changes in your own state; change begins at home, vote like your families’ livelihood depended on it.

I’d like to recommend the article from Local 138, November 2005’s constructor. Well said, Denis.

Opposing views are good…
