BA’s Desk:

Happy Fourth of July!  I am writing this article on the eve of Memorial Day and would like to take a moment and reflect on the efforts of our forefathers and IUEC Brothers.  For many, many years, Americans have given their lives for the benefits and freedoms we are so lucky to have today.  Americans should take the time and celebrate the freedoms we have today but at the same reflect on how they were obtained.

Throughout the history of the United States our military have given their lives to protect us from the evils of our enemies and uphold the ultimate gift given to us, our freedom.  In the early 1900’s men and women stood up against companies to gain better working conditions, abolish child labor and form Labor Unions.  Americans should celebrate July 4th with great honor and passion and remember why we have the opportunities we have today.  In July of 2007, the members of the IUEC may be asked to take up the fight and protect the benefits and freedoms we currently enjoy today.

In closing Brothers, take the time to enjoy the celebration of Independence Day and remember why we have the paid holiday, the freedom to celebrate, the freedom of speech and democracy.  Our forefathers did not stand down when they were called upon. They stood up and took on the fight that was in front of them.  At some point Brothers, we must take on the responsibility and the fight to protect the freedoms and benefits we have been fortunate to receive.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Fraternally,

Natalie is the 7th girl and we have 1 grandson, for a total of eight grandchildren. Just found out this weekend another one is on the way. May God bless little children and dumb old elevator men.

Thanks,

Commentary:

Happy Independence Day!

Taxes given back to the rich are a tax increase to the middle class. The cost of goods & services is set and only three groups pay in, when you reduced the amount one group pays the others have to make up the difference. HELLO

“Holding down inflation”… every time you hear the word inflation, especially from the Federal Reserve, they are really saying: “HOLDING DOWN WAGES.” The price of oil, CEO’s wages, goods & services, healthcare, prescription drugs, apparently don’t effect inflation. (Try it, put the word wages in place of inflation and you will know their true agenda)

If wages had kept up with the true inflationary costs in this country the tax dollars would be there for Social Security, Medicare, education, defense, and every other program that benefits our nation. If those at the bottom of our social-economic scale were paid a living wage they could pay into the services they use which would reduce all of our cost of the pie. (A big raise in minimum wage would indeed increase cost of everything immediately, like oil prices, but with minimum wage the money would be immediately be returned to the economy and more people paying their share of the pie.)

We’ve become a nation controlled by big business, with Fox News telling you what to think. While I’m at it… for all you brothers that actually believe or watch Fox News, wake-up. They are not your friends and they are now running anti-union advertising. You need to boycott their news programs and look elsewhere to get true fair & balanced reporting; you’ll thank me later.

Opposing views are good…Email me!
