Operating Budget Election-Starting with the August Topeka/Manhattan Area Meeting the 2008 Budget will be presented at all area meetings. The Election will be held on October 11, 2007 at the Kansas City General Area Meeting at 5:30 pm. Note: Members will have the opportunity to cast their votes at all area meetings. Members can also request an absentee ballot be mailed to them.

Member News

The Greater KC Labor Day Parade will be held on Labor Day (September 3, 2007) starting at 11:00. Local 12 will have a float in the parade. Contact the office if interested in participating. After the parade a Celebration is scheduled at the Liberty Memorial with many activities planned.

Niangua Float Trip – is scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:00 am. The float trip will start at Rob’s Campground &Canoe Rental in Windyville, MO 65783. Primitive campsites are available with showers. Cost is $10.00 per person and kids are free. Contact Dan Elliott for more information at 417-234-6702.

Local 12 Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Winterstone Golf Course. The tournament is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Play will be 4-man scramble with a 8:00 AM shotgun start! Registration deadline is Thursday, Sept 27, 2007. Contact the Local 12 office to register for the tournament.

Annual Local 12 Picnic was a big hit for adults and kids alike. Over 100 people attended this year. There were lots of good eats for all. The kids enjoyed the slip n slide. Lots of donated door prizes were given away including a new bike to Mark Seperek’s daughter and a new bike to Lenny Morris’ son. The mouse races were a big hit with the proceeds going to the Local 12 Pac Fund. Thank you to the entertainment committee for all your hard work!!!

Apprentice News

Classes will resume in September 2007. Postcards will be sent to apprentices with class dates.

Mechanic Exam is scheduled for the first week in September. Certified letters will be mailed to apprentices sitting for the exam.
