Member News

The Greater KC Labor Day Parade will be held on Labor Day (September 1, 2008) starting at 11:00.

Local 12 will have float in the parade. Contact the office if you would like to participate. After the parade a Celebration is scheduled at the Liberty Memorial with many activities planned.

Local 12 Annual Sydney Whitfield Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Adams Pointe Golf Course. Registration deadline is September 1, 2008. The tournament is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Play will be 4-man scramble with an 8:00 AM shotgun start! Contact the Local 12 office to register for the tournament.

Results of the Wichita Annual Fishing Tournament- Placing went as follows: 1^st-Brandon Bloodgood 46 lbs 6 oz of fish, 2^nd-Mark Reimer 25 lbs 1 oz of fish 3^rd – Bill Morse 24 lbs 9 oz of fish, 4^th Steve Edwards 16 lbs 9 oz of fish, 5^th-Roy VanZant 16 lbs 5 oz of fish. Big Bass – Ray Reimer with a 2 lb 7 oz bass. Big Walleye-Brandon Bloodgood with a 5 lb 5 oz walleye. No Crappie were caught. The fishing was tough. The lake had been very high and they were letting out a lot of water. Thank you to Rex Gragg for taking care of the fishing tournaments this year!!!

Reminder: The Local 12 office is still missing Death Benefit Information Forms from several members and retirees. The Local 12 office cannot obtain beneficiary information from the benefits office due to the Protected Health Information policy. Contact the Local 12 office if you need a form.

All construction, holl drilling and modernization jobs that last 3 or more days are to be called in to the Local 12 office.

Apprentices-remember to continue submitting your monthly work process reports during the summer months.

Retirees

Congratulations to Brother Ronnie VanZant on his retirement. Brother VanZant started in the trade in July 1975 and retired on June 30, 2008.
